Chicken pecked at her food, but had lost her appetite. It was recess. She had no-one to play with. Fox pulled her tail feathers and called her names again before school.
Her eye caught Fox coming her way. There was no escape. He reached for her tail feathers again. "What are you doing, Fox?" a voice bellowed behind them. It made Chicken jump. Fox hurried away.
Surprised Chicken looked at her unexpected rescuer. "Hello, I'm Crocodile" she smiled. Soon the new friends played happily together in the sandpit and Fox was all but forgotten.
"A story of an unlikely friendship."

Jude felt faint from the hunger pangs. “I wish I had something to eat” she thought, staggering forward. Reaching a stream she took a swig of the sweet water. The smell of pancakes reached her nostrils.
“Are those gingerbread houses?” she gasped. “TAKE ONLY WHAT YOU NEED” she read from the overhead board. Jude looked around. “A village of edible goodies!” she exclaimed. She ate to her heart's content and fell asleep.
She woke up at sunset, sure that it was all a wonderful dream. Yet, all around her were friendly creatures and the scent of cinnamon in the air.

“That’s the lawnmower,” snickered Emil. Elodee listened for the engine’s roar.
“Dad won’t know we are in here,” whispered Emil. “We can watch him empty the bag through this hole in the wood.” They fought the urge to laugh.
Dad pulled out a handful of grass. His face was pale, filled with horror. He stared at the rubber snake lying in his palm. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed it across the yard.
Hysterical giggles erupted from the giant wooden storage chest. Dad peaked into it. The twins stared back at him nervously.
“Very funny,” he laughed.

Early one morning on Grandpa’s farm,
I went for a stroll after Lee pulled my arm.
“Stay on the path, adjacent to the dam,
Watch out for Violet,” warned our Gram.
Violet was the youngest cow, if you didn’t know.
A lack of curiosity, she would never show.
Stories were told of her shenanigans,
of how she nearly drowned young Miss Flanigan.
She was on the same route, quite by error,
And came eye to eye with Violet the terror!
Who greeted her with a huff and pawing the sand,
Miss Flanigan went for a swim, rather unplanned.
*Have you ever been face to face with a cow before? I have met a cow who nearly sent me swimming too*
