My name is Marianna Pieterse, born in Pretoria, Gauteng in 1978. When I was a teenager growing up in Pretoria, I always imagined myself writing stories and putting my creative flair to use.
In 1998 I met my now husband Rayn, and tied the knot in 2001. Three years later we decided to embark on a European adventure between 2004 and returned to South African in 2006. In that same year we decided to start another adventure and decided to uproot our lives, leaving our families in Gauteng and relocate to Cape Town. This was not an easy decision as we had no family in Cape Town, but who could say no to the beautiful beaches and the iconic Table Mountain. In 2010 we welcomed our first daughter, Christelle. Our second daughter, Annika, in 2012 and our youngest daughter, Benita in 2016.
My family is my life and I have been privileged to have them by my side, listening to my ideas for stories, the support that especially my husband has given to me in pursuing my passion for writing. Reading my stories and providing criticism, good and bad (although I am not completely convinced that they would tell me if they didn’t like the stories *wink wink). Their honestly and support that they have offered me at the start of this journey has been immense. My voice of reason has been my friend Andrea, who although lives on the other side of the world has always been there for me, kept me sane and positive. I value each and everyone’s input into my adventure, my family and friends whom I have asked on various occasions to proof something that I have written. For this I will be forever grateful.
My passion for writing has been with me since I was a teenager, and I especially enjoy writing children’s stories and started seriously concentrating on my writing about four years ago just after I had my youngest daughter. Recently I completed a Certificate via Write Academy specifically with a focus on children story writing which I thoroughly enjoyed and have enrolled for another course with them to enhance my passion and story writing.
My writing has inspired my eldest daughter, Stella (10) to write her own stories, which not only fills my heart with love for her creativity but makes me so proud to see her imagination flow onto the paper.
My aim and my dream is that my stories will encourage other children to write or tell stories, to follow their dreams and do something they love, it requires a lot of courage to start, but once you start it will flow out of you.
To finish off, I will remind you, every day that I write I am reminded that our stories are only limited by our imaginations. So, let your imagination soar and write from your heart, there is no right or wrong as these are your adventures.
So………..let the adventures begin!
